Women in the Woods
Well done to the volunteers who raised over £1000 for the Restormel Befriending Scheme by taking part in a sponsored overnight survival, assisted by the RAF survival school. They were taught about
the psychology of survival, building their own shelters, lighting fires and
foraging and preparing food from the locality. They had a water lesson arranged
but darkness fell too quickly for this to take place. They ate salad picked from
the roadside, berries made into jam, mackerel and pigeon caught and cooked on
the fire and less appetising things – live and baked garden snails, woodlice
and earth worms – full of protein –but very gritty and the worms continued to
wriggle in your mouth!! Restormel Befriending Scheme's coordinator, Lynne Newman, felt she needed to eat a worm and lead by example - although as Mindful Employers we're not sure whether such leadership is in her job description! LOL !!
Take a look at their exploits!
